Aluminium-Pigmented Polyurethane Coil Coating
Suitable for
- Suitable: Coils and casings in strong sunlight
- Suitable: Field application on installed equipment
- Suitable: Coastal sites where the coil can be sprayed from both faces
Not suitable for
- Not suitable: High-density fins where spray film build causes bridging
- Not suitable: Strong acid, alkali or solvent exposure
- Not suitable: Coils where full coverage of inner rows is required and dipping is possible

How the film works
Aluminium flakes in the wet coating settle parallel to the surface as it dries. The overlapping flakes make a layered barrier, and the silver surface reflects sunlight. Polyurethane binders are UV-stable, so the film does not chalk the way epoxy does outdoors.
Where it fits
This class is widely used for spray application on installed equipment and in field recoating, where no oven is available. The trade-off is coverage: spray from the coil faces reaches the inner rows of deep coils less well than dipping, and building film thickness on dense fins risks bridging.
Comparing with the PG systems
For new coils that can be dipped, a thin film such as PG-S1 gives better coverage at lower film build. For chemical sites, PG-C offers a thicker chemical-resistant film. Aluminium-pigmented polyurethane sits between them for sunny sites where the coating must be sprayed.

Why add aluminium flakes?
The flat flakes lie parallel to the surface and overlap, lengthening the path moisture must take through the film, and they reflect UV away from the binder.
Is it a PG system?
No. This page describes the coating class so it can be compared with the PG systems we apply.
