Spray Coating for HVAC Coils

What we can process
When spray is the right choice
Spray takes over from dipping for three reasons: the part is too large for the tank, the coil is already built into equipment that cannot be immersed, or the coating system is designed to be sprayed at a higher film build.
What controls quality
Spray coverage depends on access. Both faces of the coil are sprayed in overlapping passes at a pressure that pushes coating between the fins without bending them. Film thickness is measured on flat areas and witness panels, and fin faces are inspected for bridging and missed areas before cure.

Coating options
Selected by site corrosivity. Salt-spray hours from different standards are not compared across systems.
| System | Film thickness | Cure | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| PG-S1 Waterborne polysiloxane (sol-gel) | 5–15 μm | Thermal or ambient | New coils before shipment, OEM dip lines |
| PG-S2 Polysiloxane-urethane clearcoat | 5–10 μm | 160 °C / 60 min | Aluminium radiators, bakeable heat exchangers |
| PG-W Waterborne two-component | 5–10 g/m² per side | 80 °C touch-dry | Coil lines, mild coastal and humid sites |
| PG-C Air-dry two-component, chemical-resistant | 20–40 μm | Ambient 72 h | Complete units, chemical and wastewater sites |

Does spray reach the inner rows of a deep coil?
Less than dipping does. Spray is applied from both faces at controlled pressure, and coverage between fins is checked. For new coils that can be dipped, dipping gives better coverage.
Which coatings are sprayed?
PG-C is spray-applied by design. PG-S1 and PG-W can be sprayed at low pressure. Customer-specified coatings are sprayed unless the volume justifies a dedicated dip tank.
