Classification
Paints and varnishes based on synthetic polymers fall under HS heading 3208 when dispersed or dissolved in a non-aqueous medium and 3209 when in an aqueous medium. The exact code, and any local requirements, are confirmed by the importer’s customs broker.
Dangerous goods
Section 14 of the SDS gives the transport classification. Products classified as dangerous goods need a dangerous-goods declaration, UN-approved packaging and hazard labels, and not every vessel or airline will carry them.
Destination requirements
Some countries require product registration, local-language labels or conformity certificates for chemicals. These depend on the destination and are arranged with the importer.
What this means for your project
Ask your customs broker which documents your country requires before ordering. The SDS and TDS for each PG system are listed on the downloads page.
