How Much Lead Time Does Pre-Shipment Coating Add?
Key facts
| Route | What drives the added lead time |
|---|---|
| Loose coils, dip and oven cure | Batch size and line slot |
| Complete units, masking and air-dry cure | Air-dry cure time (PG-C 72 h) |
| Coil removed, dipped and refitted | Removal, refit and pressure check |
| First article for a new customer or system | Approval turnaround |
What takes the time
- Transport from the supplier factory to the coating line and on to the port.
- Coating and cure. Oven cure is fast; air-dry systems need days before handling and packing.
- QC and packing, including photo records.
- First-article approval for a new customer or coating system.
Keeping it off the critical path
Book the coating slot when the equipment is ordered, and time the collection with the factory’s completion date. Approving the first article from photos and thickness records avoids waiting for a site visit.
What this means for your project
Send the equipment list, quantity and factory location with your enquiry; the quote states the added lead time for your route.
