What Is the Minimum Order for Contract Coating?
Key facts
| Route | What drives the minimum order |
|---|---|
| Dip, PG system already in a tank | Line slot and handling |
| Dip, system needing a tank change | Tank fill and changeover |
| Spray | Set-up and masking |
| Customer-specified coating | Compatibility review and trial part |
What sets the minimum
A dip run needs the tank filled with the right coating at the right viscosity; switching systems costs time and material. Two-component coatings are mixed per shift and have a limited pot life, so very small quantities waste coating. A first article is needed for new customers and new systems.
Small batches
Spray has almost no set-up cost and suits small or one-off batches. Small dip batches can be scheduled alongside other orders using the same system.
What this means for your project
Give the full annual volume as well as the first order when you ask for a quote. Minimums and prices are confirmed per route in the quote.
