How Much Does HVAC Coil Coating Cost?
Key facts
| Cost driver | Effect |
|---|---|
| Coil face area and depth | More surface uses more coating and handling |
| Method | Dip is efficient in batches; spray is slower per coil |
| Complete units | Masking, dismantling and reassembly add labour |
| Coating system | Thick films use more material |
| Quantity | Set-up is shared across the batch |
What you are paying for
Material is only part of the cost. Cleaning, masking, coating, cure, inspection, packing and transport to the port each take time. Complete units also need dismantling, reassembly and a function check.
Comparing quotes
Quotes are comparable only when they specify the same coating system or film range, the same coverage (whole coil or faces only), the same cure and the same QC records. A cheaper spray quote may cover less of the coil than a dip quote.
Set against the alternative
The relevant comparison is with replacing corroded coils early, or coating on site after arrival — including transport, access and downtime.
What this means for your project
Send the equipment list, coil sizes, quantity and site location. The quote itemises the coating, handling and documentation so it can be compared line by line.
